Gender History Network (Edinburgh)

The Gender History Network was set up in September 2009 to bring together an Edinburgh-based community of researchers (including postgraduates) and others with an interest in Gender History. Co-ordinated through the University of Edinburgh, we welcome network members from across the city and its region.

We define 'Gender History' broadly to cover all periods of time (including the study of contemporary history, archaeology and ancient history) and to encompass inter-disciplinary approaches.

The co-ordinators of the network are Esther Breitenbach ( and Louise Jackson (

Membership of the Network is free. All members are added to our emailing list, which we use to distribute information about events, publications and research.

We hold a seminar programme each academic year, which includes presentations from invited external speakers as well as network members.
