Tutorials Concern raised by one student regarding the relevance of items on reading lists. Suggestions of a core reading list or at least some suggested readings. It was suggested that students should ask their tutors if they do not understand the relevance of items on the reading list. Staff wish to avoid creating a core of readings as that could restrict the breadth of the course, and they would like to allow tutors freedom of choice, as too much similarity could create dullness in tutorial discussion. However, too much diversity should be prevented, and this will continue to be monitored. For more base level readings, students should consult the other text books in the libraries, and turn to readings suggested by the lecturers and tutors, including the additional readings listed in the coursebook. 2. Tutorial Journals Suggestions for more frequent/standardized feedback. Everyone should have had feedback on their first entry, and it is usually found by the course team that people tend to get better as the term goes on; detailed weekly feedback on each entry would be impossible. Tutors have training sessions and every effort is made to ensure consensus across tutorial groups regarding how much feedback is given. 3. Access to Readings Generally agreed that access to the readings is easy, and that the readings themselves have been good so far. 4. Lectures. A request that lecture slides should be put up on WebCT for the sake of revision. Worries raised regarding the fact that the lectures are behind schedule – assured that the lectures will catch up with the schedule in due course. Some concerns raised about speeding through some topics to the detriment of other subjects – suggested that the balance of the course may change next year to focus less on the colonies at the beginning of the year. 5. Praise for the Course Generally, the course was found to be very well organized. Praise for the tutorial journal structure in place of essays as the continual work keeps students up to date with the course. The readings have been easy to access through JSTOR. Everyone agrees that the lectures and lecturers have been great – a very enjoyable course! 6. Other Business Feedback on tutorial journals will – in keeping with University Regulations – be given to students by 8 December, before the Christmas break. Tutors present at the meeting say that the standard of students has been very good this year. =‰Š_ ` g Г Р 7 8 = B d n № ѓ ћ ќ ф ј ‹ іљкђ>Onr',-1?ёфйЭйЦЭйЭйОйОйОйОйОйОйЭйЭйЭйОйЭйЭйОйОйОйh.)OJQJ h Sh.)h Sh.)5OJQJh Sh.)OJQJh Sh.)OJQJaJh Sh.)5OJQJaJ(=d‰Š“ДЭмшћ " 0 B P _ g Š   Б В Г Р Y у ф њњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњњgd.)?§ф љ .
