Lectures Some students had expressed concern that there was some repetition between lectures which contributed to the sense that the overall structure of lectures were not well organised. Staff explained that some topics were deliberately repeated and re-explained, but that attention would be paid to this issue when lectures were planned next year Staff would also give more attention in lectures to link themes for next year, but also pay attention to this in semester 2, and try to achieve a good balance between the themes and chronology. Students would prefer to have the full text of lectures on WebCT and for staff to look into the possibility to recording recording lectures. Key dates, points on worksheet full text/powerpoint combined useful Pilot of recording lectures? 2. WebCT Students asked for more readings online or in a centralized place Staff would try to make more use of E-reserve next year More readings would be put in place 3. Books More copies are needed More specification needed on tutorial sheets of which books general and which more specific 4. Tutorials Students thought that the class size (12) was too big Staff explained that the size of the class was the result of pressure on the school budget, and would be hard to change Staff (tutors) would make more effort to advertise office hours so that students could discuss problems and questions with them Students considered that there were often too many questions on tutorial sheets for them to tackle properly. Tutors could highlight specific questions to answer in more detail in presentations and tutorial discussion; and would try to focus more on set texts Presentations Good questions, good to have non-exam grade, handouts useful 5. Essays Students reported on good feedback from tutors 6. Workshop assignment Still confusion among students about what is required of this assignment Suggested sample essays being made available Staff would try to clarify further the guidelines and consider sample essays being made available. 7. Workshops Students felt that they did not get much out of these, if they had read extensively beforehand Staff would try to get the balance right between catering for students who had done the necessary background reading, and those who had not. The workshop did not necessarily help in the writing of the assignment; but there was useful discussion on what was expected Staff suggested that some tutorial time might be devoted to further discussion of the workshop assignment }hQBhk(hQB5"#W}~ ) A 1 2 ; & FgdQB & FgdQBgdQB & FgdQB & FgdQB$a$gdQB X Y f 7 & FgdQB & FgdQB & FgdQB & FgdQB & FgdQB & FgdQBgdQB & FgdQB & FgdQB & FgdQB.:pQB|.
